Girls Golf Tryouts

2019/20 Girls Golf Tryouts - Moraga Country Club 

 

August 12th - 15th, 2019

Where:  The large public putting green at Moraga Country Club
Time:  Monday, 3:30 - 5:30, Tuesday thru Thursday: 3:30 - 6:15pm
 

Appropriate golf attire is required:   Our practices and matches take place at a country club and there is a standard we are expected to meet.  Moraga CC lists the standard as follows:  Ladies may wear skirts, collarless or sleeveless tops and "warm up suits" but not "sweat suits."  Halter tops are not permitted.  Suitable golf shorts may be worn provided that the hem is a maximum of six inches above the bend in the knee.  Gym shorts, running shorts, tennis shorts, cut-offs, short shorts and sweat pants are not permitted.  Denim jeans of any type or color are prohibited (designer or otherwise).  Girls who do not wear proper attire will not be allowed to practice.

What are we looking for?  This is a varsity sport (not a learn to golf program) so we are looking for players that have experience, know the rules of golf, and are willing to commit their time to practicing and playing in matches.  Players will be expected to balance the rigors of a Campolindo education and the requirements of a varsity sport.
 
How can I get ready for tryouts?  The coaches suggest that you work on your short game at the large putting green.  In addition, please consider joining The First Tee Organization of Contra Costa.  They have a program geared specifically for teenagers and have developed some of the best golfers in our league.  Golf lessons are also a good option.
