With Alison Adams (80), owner of the longest standing school record looking on, Maddy Doane (19) finally surpassed the beloved Campolindo physical education teacher's 400m mark, winning her heat at Saturday's DAL Championship trials in a dazzling 56.08.

Adams' 56.44 clocking had held the top spot on the record board for 39 years.
