Weekly Update March 21st & Secret Buddies for Seniors

Dear Campo Swim Families,

What we all thought of as an impossibility two months ago actually happened on Friday evening:  Senior Recognition Night and the Campo vs. Miramonte Meet could not have taken place without the determination of our Coaches; John, Ron and Dom, and the creativity of Abby Buckley.  Many thanks for everything you all did to create a truly memorable event!  Shout outs also need to be given to Berrin Yavuzer and Will Judd, our outstanding videographer team for making it possible for those at home to watch the events, and to Jon Levy and Matt Ehrenberger for picking up the microphone—last minute—and taking on the role of Announcers!  Volunteers--Marshals, Desk Team, Timers, Starter, and Photographers—you are the foundation that makes these meets run smoothly, and we are incredibly grateful for your time and flexibility.  Thank you all!  Meet results will be released this week.

Help us celebrate our Campo Senior Swimmers' final week the best we can in our COVID times with a SECRET BUDDIES FOR SENIOR CAMPO SWIMMERS program! Please deliver one "gift” on Tuesday and one on the day of your senior's final meet (Friday or Sat). It is up to you what to give and it can be really simple--a hand made gift card, candy, balloons, flowers, a poem, car paint decoration--anything to celebrate them (think Dollar store).

Deliver to the pool, their house, have a friend give it to them at school, or put on their car in the parking lot! You can even  team up with another swimmer but EVERY SENIOR needs a buddy or we can't do it at all.

Remember—this is a SECRET!  Please see this Sign Up Genius to join in the fun.

Announcements for the Week of March 21

  • Congratulations and many thanks to all who participated in the first Campo Swim DEI Swim-a-Thon to benefit Diversity in Aquatics!  More than $3,000 has been raised to date and the deadline to contribute is not until March 26.  Great job Campo Swim!
  • The timeline for the Campo Swim End of Season Meets is as follows:  Varsity Trials, Friday, March 26 and Varsity Finals, Saturday, March 27—Swimmers arrive at 1:00 pm, warm-ups 1:15-2:00 pm. Varsity meets will start at 2:30 pm and end at approximately 6:30 pm both days.  JV Finals, Saturday, March 27—Swimmers arrive at 8:00 am, warm-ups 8:15-9:00 am. Meet will start at 9:30 am and end at approximately 12:15 pm.  This will be a fast suit meet for most participants.  More details will be released this week.
  • There will be NO PRACTICE on Friday afternoon for JV swimmers.
  • Coach John will notify any JV swimmers who will be moved up to Varsity on Monday, March 23, at practice.  Any swimmer who is unable to attend the End of Season Meet must notify their coach ASAP at  varsitycoaches@camposwim.com.
  • The Meet Safety Protocols that were required for the Miramonte Meet will remain the same for the End of Season Meet.  These protocols will be sent out again later this week for your review.  While we attempt to enforce these protocols at our home meets, it is impossible to get 100% compliance.  Campo Swimmers must understand that violation of our safety standards by members of the visiting team does not give them license to ignore these protocols.  It is our responsibility to set a good example and, more importantly, STAY SAFE by masking and distancing.  Thank you in advance for respecting these safety standards.
  • Only swimmers, volunteers and coaches will be allowed on deck for the End of Season Meet.  No exceptions.
  • The Campo Team Area will be on the hill side of the Competition Pool.  All swimmers will be required to bring their own chair and plastic vessel for their personal belongings while at the blocks.
  • Volunteer Needs—Campo Swim will need to provide four Timers and one Marshal for each session.  We will also need two Deck Set-Up Assistants for Friday, March 26 from 11:30 to 12:30. The Volunteer Signup will be released via Team Unify on Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm.   Thank you in advance for volunteering!
  • Campo Swim Photos are available to view on the Campo Swim website.  Logon, then click on the “Photos” tab at the top right of the homepage, and click on the “Campo Shutterfly Site—Photos 2021 Season” link and use the password Campogo.  Enjoy!
  • Campo Swim Families now has a Group Page on Facebook that can be found HERE.  Request to join this private group to see videos from the Miramonte Meet and the Senior Recognition Ceremony, photos, and more!  Many thanks to Berrin Yavuzer for setting this up.

Let's end the Campo Swim 2021 Season Safe and Strong!  GO COUGARS!!!
