Coach Stefan’s Weekly Roundup! (Dec 11)

Games recap for the past week:

Two successful games for JV and varsity boys against Oakland High School, JV won 2-0, varsity won 6-1. Both teams defended well, and had some great goals.

Varsity had another strong game again Bishop O’Dowd  High School, which they drew 1-1, and Carson Helder scored a brilliant goal from 40 yards out.  The varsity boys displayed good possession, communication, defensive organization, and overall grit and determination.

Upcoming games:

Varsity has four games in the next 8 days (Tuesday 12/13, Thursday 12/15, Saturday 12/17, Tuesday 12/20)

JV has three games (Tuesday 12/13, Thursday 12/15, Tuesday 12/20), the F/S boys play two games (Tuesday 12/13, Tuesday 12/20).

Campo plays Miramonte at home on Thursday 12/15, and would appreciate people coming out to support the boys.

The alumni game is fast approaching - mark your calendars for Friday December 23, 1-4 PM.

We had a fun social at Ben Olsen’s office where we gathered to watch the France vs England World Cup quarterfinal. A big thank you to Ben, Tiraporn, Luke, and Levi Olsen for hosting players from all three teams. Thanks to the team managers for providing pizza and snacks.

The semifinals of the WC are Tuesday (Croatia vs Argentina) and Wed (Morocco vs France). The WC final is Sunday 12/18 at 7 am. We hope that you get to watch some of these exciting matches. It’s hard to believe the WC is almost over, and next time it’s going be in North America!!

Good luck with finals to all the boys !

Weekly message from Coach Stefan (Nov 27):

Coach Stefan’s Weekly Roundup!

I want to begin by saying that I am really proud of both the JV and F/S teams, who had their first games on the 17th against Antioch High School.  The F/S team displayed a strong character and work ethic, and a stellar defensive performance to get the shutout. The JV squad won 2-0. I am very pleased with their possession style of play, and the cohesiveness that they displayed in their very first game, with their performance looking like they are in midseason form.

The World Cup has begun and it has been an amazing week of top level soccer. This is the first time that the world cup is being held in the winter, rather than the summer, and how cool it is that the world cup coincides with the beginning of our soccer season.  I hope that we can get together and watch some games as a team. Mark your calendars for the quarterfinal on Saturday December 10, and the final on December 18.

Our Campo football team had a successful season that ended on Friday, and for soccer this means that we get at least half the field or a full field for our training starting Monday. Our training times have also changed, as listed in Stephanie’s email.

I hope that everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday. Looking forward to the week ahead that includes Varsity’s first game on Wednesday. JV boys also have a game on Tuesday, and the Frosh/Soph team plays on Saturday.

Weekly message from Coach Stefan (Nov 13):

This is the first in a series of weekly communications from Coach Stefan in which he will round up the previous week and talk about upcoming events:

-------------------------------------------

First, let me say that I am really pleased with how the social went. There was a good turnout, the players from all teams mingled and enjoyed the games, and everyone had fun. Many thanks to all the parents who helped out and contributed food, and also to the girls Varsity coach, Luis Pinto, who helped organize and set up the event.  I look forward to establishing this as an annual tradition to kick off the Campo Soccer season.

Notes on training: There was a good turnout at the tryouts two weeks ago, and teams were finalized last week. The coaching staff pleased with the work ethic, communication, and commitment of all the players. They experienced a winter soccer experience right off the bat, with the second night of training being cold and rainy, but stuck out without any complaints.

The culture that I want to continue to grow in the Campo Soccer program is off to a great start. I am very pleased to see how the players support and include each other, and how they respect their teammates, the program, and the school.

Announcements:

  • This coming week both the JV and F/S teams have their first game on Nov 17 vs Antioch at home. If you can, please come out and support the teams.
  • During Thanksgiving week, we will have (optional) pick up games on Nov 21-23 (MTuW). The times are tbd, and will be sent out later. Any alumni that are home for the holiday are welcome to join us.
  • Make sure to mark your calendars for the alumni game on December 23.
  • Dates for footgolf and the World Cup watch party coming soon.

As always, please email myself or the team parents with any concerns.
